What is ICON-CLM? The CLM (Climate Limited-Area Modeling-Community) community is composed of about 250 scientists from about 80 countries around the world, who develop and run the most advanced climate models: COSMO and ICON. In 2020, it was decided to stop the development of COSMO and shift to the German ICON model. Members of the community made a comparison between COSMO-CLM and ICON-CLM mostly in the European region and raised the advantages of ICON-CLM over its predecessor. However, most of these countries have not yet made the move from COSMO-CLM to ICON-CLM.
